Art Kart ServiceA brightly coloured medicine trolley transformed into an ‘Art Cart’ has become a regular and welcome sight on the corridors of the hospital, bringing art materials for different art sessions to patients in the Paediatric and Psychiatric wards of WRH. These sessions with patients are led by an artist-facilitator, and have proven invaluable as a positive diversion for patients, encouraging them not only to enjoy themselves, but also to explore and develop their own creative resources. In 2006, the Art Kart was piloted in the Renal Dialysis Unit of Waterford Regional Hospital with funding from the Punchestown Kidney Research Association. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and, based on this, the Punchestown Kidney Research Association agreed to fund the Art Kart for a longer period of time in 2007 and 2008 |
