Making Art

Encouraging people to participate in the actual practice of art underpins the Trust’s aim of using the visual arts in the healing process. Art Sessions with staff and patients have not only helped strengthen relationships between participants, but have given them a greater understanding of the value of the arts in a health context.

The mobile Art Cart brings art making opportunities for patients to the wards in an innovative and flexible way. Making art is also facilitated through the Trust’s outreach projects which are carried out in partnership with other hospitals and healthcare organisations.

The opportunities for participating in the art process are not confined to visual arts but also embrace creative writing and dance.
