WHAT as a ResourceThe Waterford Healing Arts Trust is a resource organisation for the development of Arts and Health in Ireland. To this end, the Trust is developing a dedicated library as a resource for people interested in carrying out research in the field of Arts and Health. The Trust also hosts an education programme of monthly lunchtime lectures that aim to offer a window on the diverse range of projects and practices in which art interfaces with health and vice versa. The Trust also hosts monthly tours of its extensive art collection. Advice around the establishment of hospital based art projects are offered a short presentation about the Trust’s work preceding these tours. The tours and advice clinics take place on the first Friday of every month. Booking is essential. The Trust continuously makes presentations to other Arts and Health projects about its work. It has also presented at a number of relevant conferences including the International Conference on Arts and Health organised by the Arts Council of Ireland which took place in Dublin Castle in June 2004. The Trust supported the first Masters by Research in the field of Arts and
Health to be funded by FETAC in Ireland. This Masters, which was carried out by
Edel Nolan from 2002 until 2005 inclusive, took the form of an evaluation on the
work of the Waterford Healing Arts Trust. Specific evaluation of the specific
strands of the Trust’s activity is being piloted in 2006 with a view to
integrating this into its work on an on-going basis. |
