Professional Development for Artists
Exchange Day
The Waterford Healing Arts Trust and the HSE South (Cork) Arts and Health Programme have identified a need for support for artists who wish to develop their practice in a range of healthcare settings and for healthcare professionals wishing to engage with artists and art projects.
With financial support from the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaion, the Waterford Healing Arts Trust and the HSE South (Cork) Arts and Health programme have commissioned Mike White to develop a Code of Practice for Participatory Arts Activity in Healthcare Contexts through a process of consultation, dialogue and desk research. Mike is Director of Arts and Health in the Centre for Art and Humanities in Health and Medicine in the University of Durham, England. He has been involved in Arts and Health projects since 1988 and is currently writing a book on community-based Arts and Health for publication by Radcliffe in 2009.
WHAT and the HSE South (Cork) Arts and Health programme will host an Exchange Day in Waterford on Friday, 27th March 2009. This will be an opportunity for the Arts and Health sector to review the draft code of practice and to contribute to its development.
