Meet Patrick Williams! Patrick grew up in Dublin but returned to his Déise family roots as a Specialist Registrar in Radiology at University Hospital Waterford in 2022. He always enjoyed photography but only began taking it seriously after rediscovering his mother’s old film camera during Covid. Patrick enjoys documentary and portrait photography and likes to experiment with the stories that can be contained within a photograph.
These six photographs were taken one evening in Co. Sligo in summer 2025. Patrick recalls, “the heat and the quality of light made the world feel unreal, like the normal rules had been suspended. Everything felt loose, uninhibited and slightly mad”.
This is his first exhibition on the Staff Art Wall, and it is on show until 6 May 2026.
The Staff Art Wall is an initiative of Waterford Healing Arts which aims to celebrate the creativity of staff working at UHW by providing an opportunity to display their work at the hospital.
