“An oasis of calm”
‘The Open Studio provides us with the opportunity to express ourselves artistically in a warm, relaxing and welcoming environment… Our weekly session is fun with plenty of chat and laughs.’
Open Studio is a weekly art workshop which offers a creative and social outlet for people living in the community who may feel isolated due to ill-health or a disability.
Led by artist Jill Bouchier, with the assistance of volunteer Sarah Lee, the Open Studio offers participants the opportunity to work on art projects in a relaxed, inclusive setting. Materials are provided and no experience is necessary. The workshop takes place on Thursdays at our Centre for Arts + Health.
“I really love coming here. It’s a joyful oasis in my life”
Participants of the Open Studio first exhibited their work in the Separate Storms exhibition at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) in 2011. They have since exhibited their work regularly during the Well festival of arts and wellbeing in Cupán Tea (UHW, 2013), The Feel Good Factory (Garter Lane, 2014), The Feel Good Factory II (Index Gallery, 2016), This is WHAT we’re all about (GOMA, 2018) and Recollections (GOMA, 2020).
The Open Studio workshop is currently full, but interested participants can go on a waiting list. For further information, please contact Waterford Healing Arts on 051 842664.
